The temple sits on a large offshore rock which has been shaped continuously over the years by the ocean tide. It is one of Indonesia’s cultural icons. Still remember the day I went to Tanah Lot for the first time. There was a ceremony going on and worshippers were slowly making their way up to the temple with offerings in hand.
